Wet Suit Or Dry Suit

Hello...this is my First question, but I do have many others. I recently purchased my First Seadoo, and would like to try it out here in California. I figured I needed a Wet Suit, but my friend says I should get a Dry Suit, since it's better at keeping the water out. Reading one of the prior posts on these forums, makes me think he's correct, and that given the climate, and water temperature, a Dry Suit is the better way to go. He also seemed to imply that I would need a Wet Suit come Summertime.

It's getting cold for Southern California lately, and I don't want to get sick, so hopefully someone can help me out with which would better "suit" me. Also, any particular brands that are better, and will I need gloves and/or boots, or are those part of the suit? Thanks for any input. :-)

Hello SoCal, Up here in Washington, most of us just use a wet suit and havent had too many issues with staying warm while riding in the ocean up here. I would think being in southern Cal. a wetsuit would be fine but its a matter of personal comfort and how much you want to spend. Drysuits cost about three times that of a wetsuit but they will indeed keep you warmer. Wetsuits work by letting a little water in the suit which warms up (kinda) but keeps the air from making you colder. If you go with a drysuit, try to get one that has booties built in. If you go to www.skisurfing.com you will find everything you need.
