Yamaha Waveblaster I Specs and Info Wanted!

I owned a Kawasaki 1986 440 stand-up with many mods, from intake to ride plate, she would flirt with 40 mph, I used to ride with my buddy with a 550, could beat him out of the hole every time. Then a couple summers back I worked as a jetski mechanic and rebuilt yamaha 700s, 2 old 760s and a 1200 engine. Doing a complete rebuild on a Yamaha is what this present businessman dreams about at night...

So now, sold the Kawi 440 and I'm looking for a new toy. The waveblasters look bad a$$, I have been unable to find specifications, I did come across some discussion on the design being nose heavy.

So experts here are my many questions: How does the blaster perform? Are there good resources for aftermarket accessories? What is the most you could bore a 700? There also didn't look to be like a lot of lateral space in the engine compartment, how is it to work on?

Any other information would be excellent. What is a comparable model from another ski manucturer? One more thing, has anyone been successful in modifying a late model ski with a turbo?

I anticipate your responses!

Just found the Blaster project thread, good stuff, but I also want the raw specs, and blown possibility/fantasy numbers, also the stock can come in a single carb? to convert to double all I'd need to do is swap out intake manifold?

Wow, I could be typing forever to answer your questions. The engine in the Blaster (B1) is a 701 twin engine (61X). The Blaster 2 came with the 760 twin engine (dual 38mm carbs). Do some reading on superjet engine mods, they use the same engine. There is a lot of things you can do to these engines. If you want to get crazy,,, stroker crank, big bore cylinders, flat top pistons, total loss, etc etc etc. Full blown mod motor and a Blaster would rip your arms off. I would think a mod engine with a magnum pump should be a 60+ MPH ski but it would be one scary ride at that speed. Now as far as the Blaster being nose heavy??? They are not. The Blaster is about the lightest sitdown out there. They make killer wave jumping machines.

Blaster II, a little bigger than the B1 but comes with the 760cc 62T engine with dual 38MM carbs. Add a pipe, head, MSD CDI, and a new impeller and this Blaster II woudl be a real screamer. I was just talking to Jesse about this Blaster II and it comes with a very nice double triler as well, not a bad deal.

I was just looking through the Dec 92 Water Scooter magazine. In this mag I found the specs on the 93 Blaster.
Length 95.7 inches
Width 34.6 inches
Deight 35.8 inches
Dry weight 320 lbs.
Fuel capacity 6.6 gallons
Engine displacement 701cc
Hoursepower 63

320 lbs,,, that is only 30 more than a superjet! The top speed on a stock blaster is 45MPH
