Hello, my name is Christopher Riley, and I own/operate this site and SkiSurfing.Com. I started jetskiing many years ago now after watching them buzz around me one day while I was out windsurfing. I knew before I even tried it I'd love it. After spending a lifetime doing things like surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and motorcycles, I knew this was for me!
I put all my windsurf gear into a big pile and sold it in the paper for the first $500 that came by. 5 mast's, 11 sails, 2 boards and a ton of extra gear. It sold within the first hour the ad ran. I took that $500 and a little more and bought a 650SX out of the very same classifieds and the rest is history.
For most of 2001 I worked building out a site called JetSkiMechanic.Com for Robert Sand when I realized something terrible was happening, PWC was dieing out. Not just dieing off slowly either, there were community groups out there literally out to get PWC'ers off the water! A problem yes, but not entirely the reason things were going so wrong and I couldn't understand why. I mean, this sport has it all, speed, excitement, free lifestyle, beautiful scenery, great people. All the fun of motorcycling, none of the roadrash!
As I got deeper into the sport I also realized that it was becoming increasingly difficult to break into the sport as a beginner because everyone *** ociated was moving towards the racing scene. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE racing and competition, but lets face it, it's not for everyone. The more I looked, the more I realized that the recreational riders were just being tossed aside and left behind. Well that's not gonna happen anymore.
We've built a place to promote PWC in general. You don't need to be a hardcore racer, a guru mechanic, or anything special. All you need to do is love jetskiing and have fun doing it. We promise to always provide the very best content we can, and we won't ever focus on the negative aspects of PWC.
For instance, if there's a story about a lake closure, instead, we'll dig deeper for you to find out who is fighting the action and do a story about them instead. We'll always try to think positive and act responsibly in our ventures.
I build these sites partly to try to provide existence for my family, but honestly we really all do this because we love the sport, if we didn't, it wouldn't happen. I can't tell you how much resistance we're already come up against getting these sites off. There are some very big monopolies going on out there in our industry, and we're gonna break them all. It's time to take charge and let the people's real voices be heard, and I'm here to make sure it happen.
On the other hand, the amount of people that have gotten behind us in one way or another is astonishing. The amount of traffic has also taken us by surprise, we do hear you, we do see what you are needing and will do our very best to provide it! We thank you for being here and hope that we can do whatever it takes to revitalize recreational jetskiing and general good fun.
We are bound to make some mistakes along the way, please realize they are unintentional, bring them to our attention, and we'll do or best to resolve the issues. We're here for you!
Thanks Again,
Christopher Riley (aka CPRman)
