Alright, just got my EGTs....now I need help getting it all set up.

First question, I know some have mounted it in the tach hole, what is needed to do this? I would rather it be there than in my VTS hole, which is where I put it for now.

Second, How am I supposed to get the probes throught the little hole in the hood? I don't see them going through, and don't see a way to remove them from the wires.

Third, I hooked the black wire up to neg and red to positive and I didn't get anything anywhere, does it have to be fully hooked up or is something wrong here?

Fourth, it came with a button that links the negative with the blue wire, any idea what this is going to do?

Lots of questions I know...but I want to get it right!!

Just completed mine, and I am an electronics guy so maybe I help. What kinda boat, is it SS or limited?

Limited, running a Rossier pipe. There are already spots in the manifold for the sensors, just need to hook it all up..

Boat is a 2001 XPL

The blue wire is tach input. On intial setup you will need to select either 1 0r 2 pulses , idle should be around 3k rpm out of water. Your stock tach wire up top is gray, should tag in ok.
I beleive you can even wrap that blue wire multiple times around a plug wire and it will read from there.
For the probes, I feed an old car antennae from the bottom of hood up to top, taped on the probes and pulled through. Careful not to overtighten them, they are delicate.

The blue wire is the mode switch ( if you run one)....
The yellow wire is the tach trigger, you can hook that right to the grey tach wire or wrapp it around one of the plug wires.

Brian, Check your wires!

Nick, make sure the fuse is good.

Ok, I got everything hooked up ok, but it still won't turn on....
Is there an internal fuse? I don't have one in the line right now, because I was trying to have as few connection (possible problem areas) as possible.....

My XPL runs!! Now I just need to get the EGTs up, and test her out. It has the ADA head and even the Rossier pipe! I can't wait....

Alright, all is good. I didn't know the wires just unplugged from the back...pulled them out and put them back in and it works just fine. I have to drill a little bigger hole for my power switch, mount up the selector swotch and thats all.

I still would rather have the guage itself be in the tach hole.....how do I do that? I think I need some sort of adaptor, but I don't know where to get one...

To put it in the tach hole, you need to go get yourself a block-off plate. They came on the RXX and you get them from a dealer.

Blue wire /yellow wire, same thing! No wonder mine wont work! lol
I bought Race Pak 1 version, its a 100 bucks cheaper! only has 2 temp probes instead of 3.

Ok, Do the probes go bad? I can't get one to read very well...it stays at 70 when I start the engine while the other one jumps to 250 or so in seconds...I swapped them and it did the same thing. What could be wrong?!

Yes, the probes can go bad....but then so can the gauge go bad too.

Well I think the guage is okay because I can switch them around. It will read room temp when I plug it in, (up from the -12 or whatever it says if there isn't one plugged in) but it won't go up when I start the motor. How much does a probe run and where can I get one? I didn't have a lot of time to mess with it last night, I will make sure I can switch them and both 1&2 work on the guage when I get home.

www.racepak.com

Item # - 400-TC-S3-96RD
Price - $105.00

If you only want one probe, you can get part number 400-TC-S3-96-R and it's only $53.00.

Check and see if abybody can get them for cheaper. robert sand, riley, etc. I am not sure if RacePak has re-sellers.

Ohhh, Nick, please do tell. What were you driving, the truck, mustang, tahoe? Hehe, young kids, sheesh, they'll never learn.

If you want come down and grab one of my probes, use it to test and tune. just need it back this weekend for Monster Garage part 4 (jay's House)

Lol, my truck. I was on my way to school...had a big psych test (that I didn't do very well on) so I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going. (Piaget Piaget lol) Came around a corner saw the cop..looked down and new I was screwed. He said I was doing 44...it looked more like 39 when I saw him. Whatever...he wrote me for 40. Mind you this was a 25 ;) $132 ticket. Oh well, pay the lawyer $150 and it doesn't go on my record...so its all good. At least he was pretty cool about it.

The thing that really pissed me off is that he said "this is a residential street and the neighbors have been complaining." There is not a single driveway that connects to that street. It is a main arterial street. The rich punks run the city...they wouldn't let the college have a second entrance because it would make their beloved street too busy....what bs lol! Good thing I have some loud subs in my truck...go through with it nice n loud now! hehe

Nick, did you switch probes in the back of the gauge to isolate the probe?
