I have a chance to buy a 1991 Kawasaki stand up ski for 300 bucks. Runs and works great. My question is, can I convert it to a set down? I'm new to this and want to install a rack on it for fishing the local river. Also the guy told me that if your setting still in it, it's not very bouyant. What can I do about that? Overall I want a set down that's stable when using or setting still. What will I get onto and how can I do it?

Well stand ups are horrible about sinkining when sittin in them. If i were you id buy it just to play with, but making it a sitdown is difficult im not sure u can but i got one tip to make it more stable....gets the biggest sponses you can find that should help the stability issue. the best sit down to get for stability is a big yamaha or seadoo good luck bro

Dude, if it runs and works great for $300 buy it!!! Where are you located?! You could part the thing out for way more than $300...

As far as converting it, the only way you would be able to do it is to buy a sit down hull, and transfer everything over. If you want to fish from it, you will want a couch (newer 3 seater) or you will end up taking a drink. It wouldn't be worth the trouble IMO, but I would buy it anyway!!

I'm located in Pa. It has no decals on it, all removed. Primer bulb needs replaced. We took off the K+N filter off and put my hand over the carb to start. Popped right off and idled nice. It was bored, I believe he said 30 over and has a high performance exhaust on it. Few scratches, no leaks and all cables work fine. He said the motor only has 1 season on it since rebuild. Real clean. Don't know what I want to do, as it looks like I probably won't be makin a set down out of it. Maybe I can buy it and use for a deal on a set down. We'll see.

What is it? 440/550/650? If it was in good condition you could turn around and sell for double...tell ya what...if it is a 650, buy it, give me the pipe, I will give you mine and a few bucks, and then sell it :) :)

Darn....

Well KBB retail is about $750, if it runs and is in good condition it still isn't a half bad deal...

Oh, but as far as converting it, you would have a hard time. The 550 was a stand-up only motor. It would barely push a runabout even if you did make it work....
