Save up a little more and go with an aftermarket exhaust, and a reprogrammed mpem. Those two mods will give the most bang for the buck. The exhaust will allow the engine to turn higher rpm's, and it will get there quicker. The reprogrammed mpem will allow the engine to attain those higher rpm's without hitting the rev limiter, and changes the timing curves drastically. You can get the pipes used for $500-800, and the MPEM done for about $300. Net result = Major performance increase.

Poor mans route: Aftermarket flame arrestors and outerwears ~$100(engine breathes better), repitched impeller~$100, Wiseco pistons~$200. Aftermarket head and domes (I like the ADA head)$200 Net result = noticable performance increase.

Wanna go all out? Throw in a set of Novi or Buckshot carbs, an R&D or Dean's Team intake manifold, a set of Boyesen or Renaldi Reeds, a set of Worx or ODX sponsons and a Magnum pump with all of the above mods and you've got a very fast lake boat that will run with or smoke any ski on the water.
