Hi, I have a 2000 XP and the i've had a little trouble with the steering. It seems to go a bit right while im driving straight and also it seems like the entire steering column...the entire piece with the handles that sticks out of the boat...is a bit loose. I can move it from left to right a bit...it wiggles...it there any way for me to tighten the steering and also make it so that it doesn't drive to the right?

Also, my VTS Trim gauge and fuel gauge don't work...is there any way to fix these myself without taking it off the water?

I'd appreciate any help with these problems. thank you.

Take it out of the water...it will be SOOO much easier to do things.

The guages could be anything from a bad MPEM to a bad connection. The fuel guage could the the baffle.

As far as the steering, get a UMI setup if you want no play...I bet your bushings are just loose. You can pull the little glovebox thing out and look at the back of the steering. Wiggle it and see what is moving.

Well, the VTS Trim actually fluctuates a little bit...its almost as though its changing when im not looking. Maybe the gauge is a little tight...whats the MPEM?

Also, with regard to steering, I've tried the glove box thing and it seems like nothing in there tightens the entire steering column. Should I open up the casing underneath when you lift the front section up? Maybe see if anything is loose in there? The screws look odd, I dont know what i'll be able to cook up with that.

I had a loose helm on my gtx, seems sea doo doesent use any bushings the shaft just gets worn and gets play in it, it won't hurt anything but I did change it out and took the bad one apart to see what made it loose, I imagine some nylon bushings could be made for it but aside form doing that its either live with it or replace it.
