SkyAce2004 08-21-2005, 07:55 PM I went out today for probally about 6 hours. Cruised the coastline went to a beach and came back. I filled up the tanks at a gas station the night previous and for my 2 skis, it costed $60. I got a marina after we left the beach, and I had about just under a half tank. Put $20 in each tank at the marina, come home and i have about 1/3 tank left
So, for my trip with the 2 skis costed $100. good lord.
dsolie 08-21-2005, 10:01 PM Yhea, this weekend a lot of us from this website went camping for the weekend. We spent close to $70 on gas ourselves for 2 skis. But here's the kicker. We filled up at a gas station for like $2.85/gal... The marina gas was like $2.67!! Should have filled up there.
SkyAce2004 08-22-2005, 02:55 AM pump price was 2.63 and marina price was 3.35
Im just in awe i spent $100 for both my skis this weekend. next time ill launch closer to where I want to go. It was a nice cruise out, but comin back in, the weather got nasty, and we had 3-4ft swells. It was fun for about 15min, then it was a workout for the next hour.
JoeMcLaughlin 08-22-2005, 10:25 AM There is a cure:)

dsolie 08-22-2005, 11:34 AM That's not a cure, that's a whole new addiction. Like quitting chew for cigars cause it's cheaper lol.
Ryebread 08-22-2005, 05:07 PM well I went out fishing today on my Boston Whaler. Didn't even look at the gas price, just started pumping. About 30 seconds later i look up and it says 15 bucks, WHAAAT, 3.28 for a gallon of gas. yup.
aboarder 08-22-2005, 05:37 PM our pump price in ontario is $3.23 USD/gal. I havn't filled up at a marina for a while and really don't want to.
GeneSPX 08-23-2005, 11:21 AM Yeah, gas prices are getting way out of hand all over. Let's develope PWC's that run on something else... like methane gas or something.
Getting low on methane???
Start chowing down some buritos and break wind. You'll have your PWC filled up in no time. Of course, you'll be too sick to ride. LOL
Ok, so maybe methane isn't a good choice.
How about alcohol????
Officer, I'm not drinking and riding. This bottle of Absolute is fuel for my PWC.
Yeah, that'll go over real well!!!!!
Maybe somehow the water can act as a fuel on it's own... like a steam engine. Hey, we're going back to the 1800's!!!!!
To pay for the gas, maybe we just have to cut down on other expenses... like food. I can hear the headlines now!!! All across America, families are starving and oil companies are rolling in dough!!! Is there a connection?
Here's a better solution...
America should start pumping it's own oil instead of relying on that from other countries!!! Barrel costs will go down, and so will gas prices. THAT WILL BE TOOOOOOOOOOO EASY!!!!!!
SkyAce2004 08-23-2005, 02:36 PM we dont have enough oil to pump, and to use steam, you gotta have somthing to heat the water, so were back to natural resources. My soulution to the prices is stop riding once a week, and cut back to once every 3 weeks. Atleast the price of gas isnt up there with oil at $25/gal for 2stroke. wow.
dsolie 08-23-2005, 03:20 PM Stop riding once a WEEK?!?!! Are you INSANE MAN?!?! If I didn't at least ride every other day I would literally LOOSE it! lol
SkyAce2004 08-23-2005, 11:26 PM Stop riding once a WEEK?!?!! Are you INSANE MAN?!?! If I didn't at least ride every other day I would literally LOOSE it! lol
I live in FL. thats the reason i got them to begin with. But i go to school mon-fri fro 8am-3pm and then i work tues-sat 4pm-midnight
that leaves me with
sunday (all day)
saturday (morning)
monday(afternoon)
I go riding every sunday, so i dont have to worry about anything, I can just go out, get away from everything, and enjoy myself. Saturday is when I sleep in, and monday is when I run my errands.
Thats my life in a nutshell. and im only 19.
GeneSPX 08-24-2005, 11:15 AM Ok, for one, I was just joking about the "steam engine". I know that the water needs to be heated, and you can't exactly install a furnace on a PWC now can you.
Second, that bit about America not having enough oil os a big lie. That is what the government wants us to believe. In all actuality, the United States does have plenty of oil. Our leaders just want to horde it while we bleed the other countries dry of it. You see, they hope that in the future, all the other countries who were once rich in oil someday become solely dependant on us for it. Meanwhile, the American consumer is paying for every aspect of getting the oil out of the ground in Venezuela (where most of our oil is coming from... NOT THE MIDDLE EAST like they also want you to believe), refining it, containing it, and shipping it.
The government thinks we're stupid or something, but they fail to realze that we're also human... just like them. It's funny how if there's things they don't want us to know... so called TOP SECRET INFO, we always have the ability to figure it out. It's not rocket science.
Now, I have to go answer the front door. It's the FBI. LOL
SkyAce2004 08-24-2005, 03:36 PM government = teh suck.
douglas 08-24-2005, 08:08 PM $4.18 a gallon on the west coast of canada. between high cost of insurance and constantly having to fill the bike, and now the ski, i am going broke!
gene, canada sends more than half of its oil output to the states. why? we don't need it. there is no shortage in canada, yet our gas prices rise. we are 100% self sufficient, do not rely on imports, and we have extremely high gas prices. with the athabasca tar sands being called a feasible resource now, canada has the largest oil reserves in the world. yes, more than saudi arabia.
GeneSPX 08-24-2005, 09:14 PM That sounds like a question to ask your canadian government. Just like our government... I bet they won't tell you the truth. My take on it is it's all a big conspiracy. Oil is big business, and the demand for it is greater than the demand for anything else... so while one country capitalizes on it... other countries will follow suit. Look at Great Brittain. gas over there is over $7.00 a gallon. I have cousins over there... I know.
Q: Why do they raise prices on gas and oil???
A: Because they can get away with it.
Unless people start abandoning their fuel powered vehicles, and resort to bicycles, and horse drawn carraiges, the price for oil and gas will continue to rise. Our governments have their citizens by their... well, you know. We are at the mercy of big business!
GeneSPX 09-01-2005, 10:03 AM This morning as I was getting ready to go to work, I turned on the television, and happened to be watching "The O'Riley Factor". With all that has happened this past week with Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Bill O'Riley has stated quite simply that what is going on with the cost of gasoline is nothing short of PRICE GOUGING. If you think about it... he's right. The one thing that governments forbid against when it comes to necessities like food, water, generators, etc. during a time of crisis is allowed when it comes to oil and gasoline. WHY? Many politicians (not just in the United States) have their hands in the oil business. OPEC has the world on a string, and can play us all like puppets. They claim that our costs are going up because theirs are going up per barrel. This is a bunch of bull. Even if oil was $70 a barrel, they'd still be making a profit off of us at the pump if gasoline only cost $1.00 per gallon. Think about it. If in one day, only 7 people put gas into their cars ($10.00) worth, there's your one barrel of oil. We all know that gas stations do way more business than that. They claim it's because of the damage done by Katrina. There's more bull!!! Here's a word for you.. INSURANCE!!! All companies have it... even OPEC. It's just that everytime we turn around, OPEC is looking for another excuse to raise the price of gasoline. It's not our fault some tankers spilled oil. It's not our fault we're at war with a country we don't even import oil from (eventhough we could). It's not even our fault Katrina hit New Orleans and damaged the oil industry there. Yet... WE are the ones who have to pay for it! OPEC needs to cut their losses, and stop this price gouging!!!
There's a gas station that is selling their 87 octane fuel for $2.99 a gallon while others are not yet above $2.70!!!!! Where is it??? Citgo station on State Rd. 54 Pasco County, Florida. Unless you need gas desperately, and you're in the area, avoid that station!!! Personally, I won't use anything less than 89 octane in my Mustang.
BTW... politicians don't pay for their gas. Actually, no government official does. It all comes out of the taxes we pay at the pump. When you buy your gas, you're not only buying your gas. You're buying gas for a lot of people.
Police cars, Ambulances, fire engines... they don't pay for the gas either. They buy the fuel according to a budget which solely depends on what it receives from the taxes WE pay.
When the cost of gas goes up, the cost of food, clothes, etc also goes up as well. Companies like supermarkets have to pay the fuel costs for transporting the product. This cost is passed onto the consumer. I just thought you'd like to know that.
douglas 09-01-2005, 10:28 AM gene, on the local motorcycle site i frequent we debate regularly the reasoning behind high octane. more often than not you are throwing your money away using high octane gas. i have a gsxr 1000. it gets 87 octane, the lowest available here, and actually the recommended gas. putting anything else in it is a waste. higher octane gas burns slower, and therefore may leave more deposits in the engine. if you get knock in the engine, you go up a grade until the knock goes away, then back down.
even the government says use the lowest octane needed.
can of worms opened.... :D
SkyAce2004 09-02-2005, 12:28 AM what can we do about it though, we dont have the option to stop buying gas. We COULD move to another country, but what would that help
douglas 09-02-2005, 06:51 AM gas is now $1.35 a litre in montreal, and $1.18 a litre in vancouver. $5.13 and $4.84 a gallon. i saw on the news some places in the states are up over $5 a gallon now too. makes no sense. reserve is being used, opec is pumping more to help, and the pipelines are partially up.
Mac54 09-02-2005, 11:58 PM Ya Im lovin the gas prices:( Im limiting myself to one more ride before the seasons end. Its getting ridiculous. Not to mention $40 plus for seadoo oil. Im debateing on moving to $20 penzoil that they sell at a local store.. My uncles been useing it for 3 years with his RX with no probs. These prices have to end!
GeneSPX 09-03-2005, 10:16 AM Yes, OPEC is pumping plenty of gas. There is no gas shortage!!! The owners of the gas stations are purposely "bagging" fuel pumps waiting for prices to go up. This has beeen investigated by an undercover agent here in my own town. He sat in wait and watched a fuel truck come and pump gas into the stations tanks. The station kept bags on the 87 and 89 octane pumps and sold only the 93 octane. Once the gas prices took another jump. a station attendant (overnight) took the bags off the 87 and 89 pumps. All this was observed and recorded by this agent.
All this was done because there was a scare that Florida wasn't able to receive timely fuel deliveries, and was going to be left short.
Can of worms.... You bet! Us vs. OPEC and the federal government for allowing this price gouging to continue. Can I buy OPEC stock too???????
Word to the wise...
Cut down on your driving... especially this labor day weekend. We'll see how much money these gas stations make off of us. When they realize that people aren't buying as much gas as we were before, they will once again drop their prices. It's the universal law of "SUPPLY and DEMAND".
kawirider 09-04-2005, 01:25 AM i work at a gas station and my boss says its going well past 4.00 by the end of september middle of october
it sucks even with my ten cents off gas
GeneSPX 09-05-2005, 01:32 PM 10 cents discount!!! Is that per gallon, or each fill? If it's per gallon, I'm going to quit my job and go work at a gas station.
I just talked to my sister, and we found out that it is actuallly cheaper wheer she is in California than here in Florida. Usually gas is more expensive out there.
There still doesn't seem to be a shortage... just a bunch of horders out there emptying the pumps. Every day, I see people out there filling up dozens of gas cans (along with their vehicles), and the next morning (early), I see fuel trucks delivering more gas. Yet the price is still sky high.
Well, maybe if people would stop hording the gas the price may come down again. As long as there is a high demand showing for the gas, the price is going to continue to be high. What we need to do is show less of a willingness to pay this much for gas. Sales will drop. Oil stocks will go down, and the price will also eventually come down.
Think about it. At $2.00 a gallon, you're getting 10 gallons for $20. That I can live with. Now with prices over $3.00 per gallon, for $30... you're not even getting 10 gallons... and instead of spending $40 a week for gas for one car, I'm spending $60 or more (and I'm sure you are too).
Maybe if the extra dollar per gallon was going towards something good like... I don't know... maybe... helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina, people wouldn't mind so much paying over $3.00 per gallon (on a temporary basis)!!! Imstead, it's just fattening the wallets of those who are already filthy rich with OPEC oil!!! Let's just say that in NY State there's about 1 million people who drive cars. Now these people get gas about twice a week. If $1... just $1 was donated per gallon of gas, and the average sale is 10 gallons, that's $20,000,000.00 a week towards the relief effort!!!
$80,000,000.00 a month!!!
Multiply that by 50 states plus whatever comes out of Puerto Rico and the Bahamas between locals and tourists. Multiply by 12 months, add that to the money pouring in for the relief effort (from all over) and you get enough money to rebuild New Orleans and Biloxi in less than one year, and it will be better than it was before and have all the people be able to move back home to brand new houses with brand new clothes, and brand new cars!!! Don't forget brand new jobs, because New Orleans and Biloxi will be back in business!!! BTW, any money left over (and there would be) would be perfect to counteract the huge deficit in our country's budget!!!
It's amazing how something so easy to conceive is so difficult to achieve. Even in moments of crisis, big corporations only think of one thing...
THEMSELVES!!!
 When it comes to helping out others financially, it's like pulling teeth to them, but when they need help, they have no problem asking for it!!!
How many people do take the time to actually think about the world around themselves???
Now of those people, are you someone who just "accepts" things the way they are, or do you think of ways to make things better?
Remember one thing:
Nothing is perfect, and everything can be improved as long as we try.
Oh yeah, a whole truckload of cans of worms have been opened!!!
One final memorandum in this post:
The Florida Lotto is over $13,000,000.00. If I won the LOTTO today, tomorrow I would donate half of my winnings towards the Hurricane Katrina Relief!!!!!!!! That's a promise!!!!!!!!!!!
GeneSPX 09-13-2005, 10:34 AM Well, I didn't win the LOTTO, but I'm still trying...LOL
Also, I am still donating what I can to the Katrina Relief Fund c/o the Red Cross.
Also on a good note, gas prices have come down a few cents here in Florida. Regular is down to $2.88 a gallon at the BP around the corner from my house. It still needs to come down a lot more!!!
My 97 Stang got rearended and totaled, so I had to buy another car (95 Stang w/58K miles on it). This put a good dent in my wallet, because I had to use some of my insurance $ to pay off the older car, and come up with the $ to buy this one. Gas prices on top of my other bills didn't help me much this week.
Diggin' for change.
dsolie 09-13-2005, 01:45 PM Check the couch... The change gremlins live in there.
GeneSPX 09-14-2005, 04:56 PM Change Gremlins... LOL.
Actually, the auto dealer gave me a $10 check back when I went down to get my registration sticker for my tag (so I could get rid of the tacky paper tag). They discounted my registration renewal. This helped me out a bit. Now I'll make it until tomorrow... PAYDAY!!! I should be out of the woods now (and able to save some $).
dsolie 09-14-2005, 07:25 PM Do we need to start a "Put Gas In Gene's Ski" Fund?
GeneSPX 09-14-2005, 07:42 PM LOL. Need a fix Gene's ski fund first... then put gas in it fund.
