GP 1200 pistons in a Gp 800superjet 10-27-2003, 12:31 AM Well I blew up my 800 months ago and now am looking in to running some GP 1200 pistons 800 are 80 mm and 1200 are 81 m, so i can i bore it to 81 and throw them in? JoeMcLaughlin 10-27-2003, 10:36 AM YEP, What kind of pistons are you going to use??? Joe....... superjet 10-27-2003, 12:37 PM Thanks Joe! I think they are wiesco ones skisurfing is selling Should get ordered today and get her rebuilt and running this weekend and ready for the ocean :P [Edited on 27/10/2003 by waverunner] JoeMcLaughlin 10-27-2003, 05:18 PM The Wiesco pistons need a little extra clearance that OEM because the expand more then they get hot. I just hope that whoever is doing the machine work knows what they are doing. Joe.......... greg 10-27-2003, 09:30 PM Joe you better reck the wrist pin hight the 800 and the 1200 pistons have diffrent pin hights due to the stroke on the 1200 crank its diffrent than the 800 and the 800 has two more transfer ports in the clys if this is a pv motor so be careful it might not work cuz I we had some 800 pistons and 1200 pistone laying on the work bench when we was building a 1200 motor and if i did not see if for my self i would of not beleived that they were differnt. just my two cents worth greg GeneSPX 11-02-2003, 06:32 PM Man, why go through all this headache? I'd just go with the recommended 800 pistons. If it's more power you're looking for, there are other ways to do this. 1. grind out the baffels out of your exhaust manifold. 2. jet the carbs. 3. change the intake grate 4. Change the impeller to a skat track (or something comparable) 5. run higher octane fuel in the ski. 6. anything else I forgot to mention. You don't want to do anything that will decrease the reliability of the ski. Just chipping in my tw cents. I'm surprised Robert didn't chiem in on this one. Where is JetSkiMechanic when you need him??? TexasRex 11-02-2003, 06:55 PM go pro-x, seizecos will leave you hangin again. TexasRex 11-02-2003, 06:56 PM unless your gonna sell it :o Jetskimechanic 11-04-2003, 07:50 PM I answered this question when I was emailed... He says 1200 pistons??? they are 84mm for the Steel sleeve motor and the 1200R Piston is the 80mm also... They are the same piston for the 800 and the 1200R... Nicklesil coated cylinders... Bore it out??? Makes no sense to me??? Want speed, send it in to me and lets port it and put some rad carbs on and an Ignition system and twin pipes!!!!! JoeMcLaughlin 11-04-2003, 08:17 PM There is nothing wrong with using Wiesco pistons. I have used them with no problems. I don't send my cylinders to idiots. Ship them off to Robert and get the job done right. Get with it so you can ride. If your wussing on doing the work bring your ski down and we will get it done over some beer. Just get the cylinders bored, gasket kit, and pictons kits prior. Joe....... GeneSPX 11-05-2003, 07:12 PM It's about time you responded Robert! Now there's a guy who knows what he's talking about!!! Send them to Robert!!! He'll do it right! superjet 11-05-2003, 10:04 PM Well this project got put off again :casstet: GeneSPX 11-07-2003, 05:19 PM Why? Money? Hehe... sounds like me and my ski problems. Money is the big issue. I didn't forget you Robert. If I clear off all the dust and cobwebs, do you think I'll find my ski sitting in the garage??? :P [Edited on 11/7/2003 by GeneSPX] Jetskimechanic 11-08-2003, 09:01 PM Right on... When your ready just email me and we'll work something out... We can now repair and then recoat the nikelsil cylinders cheaper then buying new one's... JoeMcLaughlin 11-12-2003, 06:31 PM I knew I had a note on this around. .0050 is what you want possibly up to .0070 but I would go for .0050 myself. Joe..... | |
