Paranoia

Hey, maybe a few of you can help me out. When it comes to cars, I know a lot and can fix most any problem. When it comes to wave runners, I am lost. I purchased a 1996 Sea Doo XP 800 last year. I had a minor prob with a fuse being blown out and just had it repaired. I spoke to two mechanics that put the fear of the dollar in my head. I was told that most sea crafts, regardless of how well you take care of them, were ticking financial bombs. I got a good deal on this and it seems to run well. They said however, most all problems are expensive as hell, and they nickle and dime you to death. Does anyone know if the XP 800 is a dependable model? What things can I do other then have it professionally winterized, and not beat on it, to keep it running? Should I be paranoid that I will have non stop problems and this is common? If someone can either confirm my fears or put them to rest, I would appreciate it.

Relax. Marine related products do tend to be a bit expensive because they are made to stand up to a harsh environment. Any watercraft requires regular upkeep, no matter what you buy.

It's a great value in the end, because being out on the water is priceless....
