Hey All...

Got something wierd going on here....
I have a 2003 Sea Doo 4 Tec, last summer I got hit by roughly a 8 foot wave (Sideways)
Damn thing broke right on top of me... Anyway My Ski capsized I swam it to shore, pulled the drain plugs and went to get help to get it home....

Got it home, called my local dealer, they told me to pull the plug and covers and try starting it, and allow the water to blow out (Took on a lot of water, it was one step away from going down in around 75 feet of water) did the 'Water Blow" thing, but still would not start, took to dealer he got it up and running, changed oil, and plugs... Took out following weekend ran a little rough, but ok.. By end of ride it was running great ypu would never be able to tell that it basicly "sunk"... Took to dealer a few day's later and had it prepped for winte (Damn Michigan)......

Here's were it gets strange... I pulled out of storage in May, cleaned it all up, called the dealer and asked if I had to bring it to them for prepping it for summer.. He told me that all I had to do was put it in water start it and let it idol for awhile and all should be good ..
Took it over to a local lake with a wet suit and put ski in water, started up just fine a little bit of smoke, but it sounded like HELL... Just like an old diesel motor... I thought maybe it was just due to the winter stuff they put in the oil.. So I let it idol around for a bit still the noise is there, hit the gas a few times and could not get that sound away.. Took back to shore and went right to dealer... He took it out on there lake, compression checked it, and told me there was nothing wrong with it, he told me just to burn out the bad gas and everything would be fine... This was in May .... It's no going on Aug and it still sounds like a diesel... Kind of a "Growling" nasty sound in motor... I've put 5 full tanks of new gas and replaced the plugs and still sounds bad... this is the weird part I still have great "Out of the hole" preformance and still clicks off around 65-68 mph But sounds like hell...
Is there anything that you guys would know of that would cause this ????

Sorry post is so long, I'm really confused as to what's wrong with it...

Thanks
Mark

Possible that the dealer didn't replace somethign during the servicing. I would check the exhaust connections for leak (that makes load sounds). Check your seat to hull seals and connections as any open area will allow engine noise to escape (and water in)Check for any loose parts floating around (unlikely to make that much noise). Check the intake area for missing spark arrestor (I'm way on a limb now!). Beyond that, you will have to wait for some experts to chime in and help.

I'm really suprised a large wave would fill the ski with that much water. roll and toss, yes, but nearly sink - that doesn't sound right unless the engine kept running while capsized.

Good luck with that, I would be concerned too.

Oh the wave "Rolled and Tossed" When I came back to the surface the Ski was upside down and just getting pounded by more waves, by the time I swam over to the only thing you could see was a small sliver of the black hull, had to swim it in about 100 yards to the beach get into shallow enough water to roll it back over.... got to the beach and pulled the seats and the water was almost to the top of the hull, the engine was completely under water... It sucked...
