I HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS SO PLEASE FORGIVE ME. (NEWBIE) but I am pretty handy.
Here goes
A friend capsize my jetski and couldn't get it back over and it took in water (SALT) it nearly sunk.
This is what i was told to do and i did.
Drain all the water out of the hull. Remove the plugs and sprayed it with cans of WD 40. Start the Ski to circulate the pistons. What I didn't know was that the Electrical box had taken in water and the salt ate through the wire harness coming from the battery, I would say it melted the bolt of the solenoid. I replace the solenoid and sprayed the harnessess with Wire Dry and corrosion block. I replace ground cable from the battery cause it was also corroded and getting hot when i try to start the ski. Should i replace the Power cable too? I replace the connectors on both end but the cable looks dull after stripping it.
HERE IS MY DILEMA.
Ski turns over but wont start. All of that WD40 mix with whatever is inside the engine is preventing my plugs to spark. I check my carbs the morning and I found that milky stuff in it too.
I Poure a little gas in the carb area, cause i remember my father doing that to lawn mowers to get them going.
Other issue that I am having is that some work was done to this ski and it has high compression. After a few cranks my battery goes dead. I have replaced the battery that was in there and the same thing.
Any suggestions on how to get this ski running again.
1. Its turning over with out the plugs in it to release what i poured into it. Some guy recommend that i pour diesel fuel to eat up any salt that might be in there. Is he correct? Is there any products I should use for that or any other parts that might be damaged by the salt that i don't know about?
2. I was told to light the plugs to get them hot before install them. Is that true? this guy seems to know a little about skis cause my engine is still alive.
Is there anything else in the electrical box that I might need to change.
3. There is no oil pump anymore, I have to mix the oil and gas together. Should I had more oil to the gas at this point?
4. What can i do so the battery doesn't die after a few cranks. I have it on a trickle charger. I use a battery pack. Is it safe to use a jumper cable? Can a jumper cable and my motorcycle jump the ski?
5. Is the ski suppose to take in water like that after capsizing. how can i test that.
6. Final question. - Where the drain plug is, there is two small plastic covers with a tie wrap holding it in place. Is that just a cover or is that the drain plug? One was missing after the ski was rescued and would like to know if thats where water enter the ski.
Thanks for all you help and you can send me a bill if it get this going.
PS> I do have the manual on cd for this ski
