Is Winterizing a jetski required or needed in AZ????

I was told by the dealership that I still need to winterize my jetski in Arizona  Is this true? or is dealership trying to pack a few bucks? Their theory is that parts would get rusted and when dewinterizing or using it again in a few months, the engine might get destroyed  I have an enclosed loop system, so how would water get in there or had gotten in there to rust things anyway. They said they put some kind of foam over everything and then when I get ready for summer, they would clean that up and I would be ready to have fun again. Any help would be appreciated.

well, are you going to stop using your jetski for long time or the winter? Are you going to have 36f temperature or less? if so, lets winterize.

here in florida we dont winterize but we run almost each weekend.

WD-40 the engine compartment. Remove the battery and put it on a trickle charger. Drain/remove all fuel. Fire the boat up after you drain, and run it out of gas (whats left in the carbs). The go to the pump area and driveline and WD them also (anything metal inside and out).

All watercraft being stored away needs to be winterized... Now if it doesn't freeze where you are then you can get away from doing the 50-5o anti-freeze deal but the rest needs to be done!!!! Don't be a victom like other crafts I see at the beginning of every Season!!!! Here is a link to get your Winterize kit with Instructions...

Hello, there! thank you all for your help. Sorry I was out on a little vacation :)
The temperature doesn't get that low here in AZ and it doesn't snow here, however, I dont think we will be using the jet ski for about 4 months or so because the water gets chilly and the breeze is too.
WD40, huh? Whew, the dealer was surely going to charge me a few pretty bucks. Is this all I have to do? Do I need to lubricate anything internally or just what its visible in the engine compartment? I mean by not taking any screws out etc. Sorry about my ignorance, but can I safely fire up the boat out of the water?

I don't see the kit for my jet ski. These are for two stroke. I have a Seadoo GTI 4 TEC. Could you point me in the right direction?. Do I need to buy a pump also?

Scroll down the page to the 4TEC kit... If you are changing the oil you need a pump that we stock... It's on the same page at the bottom and also in the Oil change section...

On the 4-tecs winterizing would also include changing the antifreeze. The complete list would be:
oil & filter, stabilize fuel, remove pump cone to check for water, remove fuel rail to fog the motor, changing antifreeze, spraying with WD-40/bomb lube or similar, Blowing out the left over water and possibly adding some RV antifreeze to the exhaust system. You should also clean the boat inside and out. Removing the battery to put on a trickle charger is a good idea too.

Thanks I found the kit, however after I thinking about it, I did the oil change at the begining of July or so when the jet ski had only about 8 hours or so. The jet ski has now about 25 hours on that new oil. Do I still need to change the oil?
I went ahead and order the fuel stabilizer and the fogging oil from the website.

Great!!! I saw that this morning... Well when I winterize a craft I do the hole thing that includes the oil change... You can wait but it's nice to have all done and new oil coating the crankshaft etc. below... If you want to change the order to the kit or just add the oil filter you can...

Our kit's have a Instruction page with it also...

I was ready to get my jet ski winterized (fog the engine) today but couldn't find the instructions in the box. Was I supposed to buy the instructions separately? I have the service manual but this doesnt tell me much. I don't know my way around the jet ski so I am not sure here to start. Does anyone have and exploded view of the engine so I could understand what to do?

I am following this string too. I live in Maryland and need to get my 2003 GTX winterized as well. Is the DI kit on http://www.jetskimechanic.com/store/commerce.cgi
also good fro teh 4stroke version? It is not clear from the description

One other item: the manual indicates that you will likely need to replace the o-rings around the oil filter. Is there someone who sells these as well?
