Hello,
I wanted to advise you all of some important changes we've made to Jetski News. The software that the board was running on had been causing some issues for some time now. Primarily, the software had many exploits and other security problems which have caused technical issues and even brought the board down on a couple of occassions over the past three weeks. These issues/vulnerabilities have kept increasing to the point where we even had to isolate the site on it's own server to prevent it from causing problems throughout the network.
As well, we have noticed attempts to use these vulnerabilities to plant malicious code. Several files that were critical to the performance of the site had become infected. As well, we had great concerns about the possibility of one of these exploits causing loss or corruption of data. The last thing we would want to see is the loss of any posts or photos which are so valuable to you.
These vulnerabilities have forced us into a situation where we felt we must upgrade the board and move it to a new software platform: vBulletin. vB is robust, feature-rich and much more secure from these kind of threats. We have a depth of understanding and skill in developing and supporting vB which means a better experience for our members.
Change is never easy, but it is necessary in this case. In order to keep this community strong and growing we need to make this move. Considering the available options it is the best possible course available. All your posts and photos will be preserved and any issues which we can address regarding functionality will be dealt with as quickly as possible. Your forum staff will be working diligently to help you with this transition.
I'm sure there will be questions, so please ask us and we'll do our best to provide answers.
