Ok my grandfather has an older boat. Its old but it is still nice. Its an old sea ray open bow. I think like 23 feet. Anyways i think it has a v8 in it. The other day he put a new prop on it. This time he put a four bladed prop. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was a good idea or not. He said that it doesnt seem like it doesnt take off as much as it used to. Im hoping to get this taken care of before the 4th of july. I am planning on taking it out. Any information you guys or girls can give me would be great. Thanks for your time. Matt

Aside from the extra blade on the prop, is the new one smaller in size than the older one? Also, the extra blade (although it looks good) may be adding a bit more drag on the water flow as it passes through. I'd conduct a little test. Go and buy another 3 blade prop, and compare the two. If there is indeed a difference in "get-up-and-go", then return the 4 bladed one. If you find no difference, then return the 3 bladed one and keep the "cool" looking one.

The engine is pushing more prop, I can see it being a little slower on teh start but it should go faster for top speed if the engine can push it.
