My wife and I were in Lover’s key in July, but that is before we bought our jet skis. We stayed at lovers key resort and rented a boat for the weekend, but now we want to go back to the area. I sent you an email outside of the jet ski forum, but thought perhaps I should send it to you by responding to your post.
My wife and I have 2 Honda Aquatrax jet skis that we bought at the beginning of the Summer in West Palm Beach, Florida and love them and have traveled a few times around Florida since buying them. We especially loved the St. Augustine area and lauched by the Vilano Bridge.
This past weekend the temperature plummeted to 40's and 50's from 90 degrees as you know. Even though the temp warmed up to 68 degrees, after an hour we were drenched, cold and shivering. We are now interested in getting two full wetsuits but haven't got a clue where to start. Our arms were cold so I presume we want a long sleeve wet suit. Any idea what the "mm" thickness rating is (Is thicker necessarily warmer and do you still have flexibility?) What are your thoughts on headgear, as we got thoroughly drenched? Also what is a dry suit? We just want to stay as dry as possible and as warm as possible as we don't want to put the jet skis away until April.
Also, since we are in the West Palm Beach area, can you recommend a place anywhere in Florida, that jet skiing is good other than in the ocean or Intracoastal, such as a big lake. My wife is afraid of aligators in Lake Okeechobee, although I don't even know if jet skiing is allowed. Any advice? In November, we were planning to go back to the Lover’s Key area, and wondered what advice you had for us, if any.
Thank you.
